NOTHING IS COOL:
Since around 2016 Ron Cameron has turned his original Nothing Is Cool graphic from 1988 into a current clothing and accessories brand. Based upon a single graphic that many have claimed to be one of the greatest to come out of skateboarding culture circa 1985-’95. Although the typical viewer’s initial reaction upon first glancing at the Nothing Is Cool graphic can feel like a slap in the face, it ultimately supplies a feeling of freedom from trying to fit with the “in” crowd, giving it a universal, timeless rebel appeal.
THE WAY OUT:
The Way Out is an audio and visual educational project created by Ron Cameron that is centered around animated psychedelia and mind-expanding sounds. In the summer of 2011, Ron was inspired by fellow DJ friends to make use of his enormous music collection. Since he used to DJ a bit in the late 1980s, they suggested live DJ-ing would be a good solution. So, Ron brainstormed ideas for the project. It soon became evident that this would also make a great idea for a weekly late night radio show.
One of the biggest of the underground skateboard companies of the 1980’s. This is where the original NOTHING IS COOL graphic first appeared on the top of Ron Cameron’s “Simple Simon” model skateboard in 1988. Ron became the main designer of Blockhead in 1986 and helped to take the company to a new level up until 1990 when he stepped away to start up Acme Skateboards with former Blockhead pro Jim Gray in 1991.
